Feb. 25-28,2010, San Antonio, TX

This is Sunday and we are taking a break. We spent the 2 days on tours of the San Antonio area. On Friday's tour we saw, the Alamo, Japanese Sunken garden (where all the flowers had frozen), the river walk by boat in downtown, missions San Jose and Concepcion and the mexican market place. The weather is in the mid 60's and sunny. The Alamo as most of you know, is in the downtown and looks quite small. On Saturday, we went to the Texas hill country and saw the LBJ ranch (also known as the winter whitehouse). We went to Fredricksburg, TX which is a german settlement and reminded us of walking in Door County. There were lots of tourists. The food and beer were good. We toured the Pacific War Museum there and shopped. Admiral Nimitz of WW2 fame is from Fredericksburg. Our next goal is the Big Bend National Park in west Texas.

Don't forget to read (re-read) Nevada Barr's Borderline for your Big Bend park adventure.
